Everything is ready for professional boxing program in Varadero

With the official weigh-in today, everything is ready for the professional boxing program to take place tomorrow in Varadero, Matanzas, the first in Cuba with a woman in the ring.

There will be five World Boxing Association (WBA) titles up for grabs, in addition to the semifinal for the WBA world title, which will feature two-time Olympic champion Julio César La Cruz and Montenegrin Dilan Prasovic in a 12-round bout.

Cuba will be present in five of the six scheduled fights, with highlights also going to include Olympic king Erislandy Álvarez, two-time Olympic gold medalist Arlen López, and three-time world champion Lázaro Álvarez.

The 2024 Paris champion at 63.5 kg will face Dominican Brainer Vásquez in a 10-round bout for the WBA Latin American Continental title.

López will compete in the heavyweight division against Argentine Martín Ezequiel Bulacio, and the other Álvarez will fight Dominican Miguel Queliz Santos in the lightweight division, all in the same format and for the same title.

Likewise, at 66.6 kg, Yaquelín Estornell will mark the debut of a Cuban woman boxer when she faces Dominican Lina Tejeda in eight rounds of two minutes each.

Finally, the only bout without local presence will be at 58.9 kg, between Moroccan Moussa Ghalom and Dominican Misael Vázquez, a 10-round bout for the WBA Latin American Continental Gold title.
